Peyton Names Chief of Legislative Affairs

Monday, March 31, 2008 Jacksonville, Fla.

Mayor John Peyton announced today that he has asked Shannon Hewett to join his executive team as Chief of Legislative Affairs for the City of Jacksonville.  Ms. Hewett will begin work on April 7th.

“Shannon is a perfect addition to my senior staff and I welcome her.  Her depth and breadth of experience in Jacksonville and in Tallahassee will allow us to advance the very aggressive agenda we have set for Jacksonville.  Shannon is a true professional, “said Mayor John Peyton.

Ms. Hewett was most recently a partner at Fiorentino and Hewett, a government affairs and business development firm headquartered in Jacksonville where she spent seven years.  Prior to that, Ms. Hewett worked with Councilmember Jim Overton in the Jacksonville City Council, for the Republican Party of Duval County and as Northeast Florida Regional Director for United States Senator Connie Mack.  Additionally, Ms. Hewett is active in many local and statewide not-for-profits and has served in important capacities in numerous political campaigns.

Ms. Hewett will direct the Administration’s work with the Jacksonville City Council and will lead the City’s activities in Tallahassee.  “Shannon could not have joined my team at a better time.  We have much yet to accomplish and Shannon’s commitment to building partnerships to achieve important results will stand us in very good stead”, said Mayor Peyton.

“I am excited about the prospect of serving the city I have called home for sixteen years and helping move Jacksonville forward in a meaningful way”, said Ms. Hewett.
