About Us

The Mayor's Special Events for Senior Citizens and Special Programs for Older Adults enable Jacksonville's senior citizens to enjoy cultural, educational and recreational events and to be recognized as valued members of the community. Individuals 60 and over are encouraged to participate.

Senior Games torch logoThe games encourage and celebrate fitness after 50. Competition in various athletic events and other games is offered to encourage and promote a healthy lifestyle for those 50 years of age or older. Held annually in the fall.

Brain Bowl

Be a part of this inaugural event promoting "brain fitness." Take part in the interactive games,visit the Health Expo, hear presentations from the medical community and join us for lunch.  RSVP required.

Safety and Security Seminar for Seniors

The safety seminar informs senior citizens about how to be safe and secure and plan for the future. Seniors actively participate and learn how to protect themselves from becoming a victim of fraud or a scam.

An annual publication of services, goods and activities for senior citizens and their families in the greater Jacksonville area. The 2008 Senior Services Directory is available at all Senior Centers and Public Libraries as well as City Hall St. James.

Advisory Council
